AFC Bournemouth Women are a semi-professional women's football club based in Dorset, nicknamed the Cherries. The club was founded in 1992, originally playing simply as Bournemouth, and worked its way up through the Southern Region leagues — winning Division One in 2003/04 and a league and cup double in 2005/06. For years the women's side sat under the AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust, before control passed to the main club in summer 2023, and in June 2025 AFC Bournemouth Women was incorporated as a separate company within the club's ownership group. That shift reflected the wider move to bring the women's team fully into the professional club structure.
