Blackburn Rovers LFC

Blackburn Rovers Women were founded in 1991 as part of the club's community programme, and have been affiliated with Blackburn Rovers as its women's side ever since. Known as the Riversiders, they reached the Women's Premier League National Division — then the top flight — where they spent five seasons from 2006. Their most distinctive moment came in 2011: offered a founding place in the new Women's Super League, the club declined to apply, unwilling to split the women's team away from the men's setup, a decision that set their path apart from most of their peers. They are also one of the most decorated sides in the Lancashire FA Women's Challenge Cup, which they have lifted well over a dozen times.
