Chatham Town Women were, for most of their history, known as Gillingham FC Women. The club's roots go back to 1995, when Gillingham FC owner Paul Scally co-opted a local Kent women's team called Borstal '88 to become the club's official women's side. They carried the Gillingham name for decades before switching affiliation and identity to Chatham Town, moving to the Bauvill Stadium in Chatham. It's a club that has changed its badge more than its base — the women's game in the Medway towns running as a continuous thread through those different names.
